Nine members of the Inishowen Organic Group went on a walk at the farm of Ralph & Liz Sheppard in Raphoe on Thursday night. It was wonderful. They have 30 acres of broadleaf woodland, planted over 30 years, all maintained by themselves. The difference in the ages of the plantations gives a great indication of the changes which take place naturally in forests as they mature.
Ralph & Liz are fantastic hosts, full of enthusiasm for what they do.
After the walk, the group also visited Beltany Stone Circle. The sun had just set and the place had a magical feel to it. Well worth a visit anytime you're in the Raphoe area

Pictures from the Ard Kilbride estate, Carndonagh, where residents are pioneering a 'grow your own' project. Many families on the estate are taking part in the venture, which is being funded by Donegal Co. council, the IDP and the local environmental group. Greenhill Farm is supporting them with advice and practical help in setting up the beds and choosing which plants to grow. Greenhill Farm will be in attendance at the second Simple living fair, taking place on Saturday June 20th at the Colgan Hall, Carndonagh from 2pm-5pm. The recent order for tools sent in to Fruit Hill Farm should be here today. Greenhill Farm needs WWOOFers asap. If you need a place quickly, contact us NOW! |
